To record motion data, wear the supplied motion sensors on its assigned location. You can check where they are assigned by looking at the Quick Menu. Please charge all motion sensors after every ride.
Setting up your motion sensors
Putting on your motion sensors
1. Assign the location for each motion sensor
- Connect to your motion sensors by having them turned on and in range.
NOTE: To turn on the motion sensors, make sure the charger is plugged in to power source, or the sensors are removed from the charger. Their LEDs should be turned on when they are powered on. - On the TYPE-R, open the Quick Menu by swiping down from the top of the screen
- Tap Menu > Motion Sensors > Assign Sensor Locations
- Tap the location you want the active (blinking) sensor to be assigned
- Close screen when finished
2. Wear your motion sensors
The 5 sensor positions of the TYPE-R: Pelvis (back), Right foot and thigh, and left foot and thigh.
Thigh Sensors
Place thigh-assigned sensors between 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) from the edge of the knee directly on the skin using the supplied sensors adhesives.
Placing the motion sensors under your bib shorts without the adhesives can also accurately record data. However, the motion sensor might fall out while riding, so we do not recommend using the sensors without adhesives.
TIPS
- The sensor can be placed at a different distance from the knee and off to the left or right without affecting the consistency of the readings.
- Having hair, oil, sweat, and/or water on your skin before placing the adhesive can cause the adhesive to come loose. Please wipe the area (using alcohol gives the best results) before placing the adhesives.
Foot Sensors
Place foot-assigned sensors on the laces closest to the tip of your foot using the sensor clips.
TIPS
- If you are using shoes with wires/strings, wrap the wires/strings into the hooks from opposite directions to prevent the sensor clip from becoming loose and falling off.
Sacrum Sensor
Place the sacrum-assigned sensor directly on your skin using the supplied sensor adhesives, directly over your sacrum (back part of your hip bone, right above the tail bone).
TIPS
- Having hair, oil, sweat, and/or water on your skin before placing the adhesive can cause the adhesive to come loose. Please wipe the area (using alcohol gives the best results) before placing the adhesives.
Torso Sensor
The ideal location for the Torso sensor is the center of sternum. However, a sensor can be attached anywhere along the sternum (from the top to the bottom) as well to make the attachment more comfortable. Attaching the sensor on the abdomen is not recommended.
The Torso sensor can also be attached on a heart rate monitor strap. However, please be sure to tighten the strap on the body otherwise the sensor may move in unexpected ways and may interfere with data collection.
